We continue to see just how corrupt this dark tournament is with sponsors watching and laughing just because they have enough money to make the characters suffer.
Without stepping out of the ring Kurama went to have a second fight against ice master Toya despite the fact that his spirit powers were sealed in the previous round.
By deliberately getting slashed in the arm he wins by drawing a plant monster out of his body through the wound because that’s where his spirit level is. I didn’t think this fight was particularly amazing but that twist at the end felt very satisfying and well earned.
The annoying thing about this episode was that it tragically ended with Kurama being destroyed due to his immense fatigue the fact that he was unconscious. Even though he won we weren’t given any breathing room to calm down, no, he just got beaten up due to a massively unfair judgement of the rules.
Koto acts as the voice of reason whilst I’m watching but annoyingly the corruption is far too powerful and she is forced to obey the rules even though she knows they’re wrong. I just look forward to seeing Yusuke beat that guy up for revenge!
Any enjoyment from this is similar to the enjoyment that you might get out of school days: The fight in this episode wasn’t that great but the drama was gripping despite the fact that you hate it. It was below average for Yu yu Hakusho but that doesn’t mean it was bad at all.
