Golden Boy Episode 1 Review

We’re going back to golden boy to discuss the first episode and it’s actually pretty good once you spend a few minutes thinking about it. But first let me tell you what happened in the episode in case for some reason you’re reading this without watching it.

The main character is golden boy, a boy who goes around the country doing terrible part time jobs and having various encounters with numerous sexy ladies who all have something to learn from each other. Despite his perverted nature this show actually portrays the main character as a good person through his actions.

He gets a job at a computer program company and meets the boss who crashes into him giving him a huge loan even though he’s injured. This boss girl is naturally wearing an incredibly revealing outfit which doesn’t really make sense for her to wear. He then contributes to cleaning but wants to do so much more to help the company.

So naturally he shuts down the main server and deletes a very important program along with its back up so that they have to start from scratch and finish before the deadline. Though in the week that he was fired he becomes a computer genius and makes the program for the company making up for his mistake. The boss runs then chases after him proclaiming her love for him due to his brilliant programming skills.

When I put it like that, it doesn’t really sound like a very good episode but it was actually pretty good. I liked the detail that they added to trivial things like the notebook (which is worth more than the main characters life apparently) and the fake keyboard that the character used to learn programing.

Despite all the perverted stuff he clearly has good intentions and does his job very well, something that’s only really realised at the end of the episode.

The episode seemed to have two very simple messages. The first one is pay for your mistakes. The main character had massive integrity to admit his mistake and do a good thing for the company. As well as this the girl at the start could admit her mistake of running the guy over and properly compensated him because of it. Both of these actions ended up turning out great in the end.

The second message was be kind. The main character gave all of his money to help the old couple’s debt problems and it was rewarded well. The girl at the end saw his kind acts and ended up falling hopelessly in love with him because of it. It’s subtly saying that if you do nice things that hinder you, you can benefit from anyway. In this case the reward came from the sexy rich girl being attracted to him (as it always is in this show) but I’m sure it can come from somewhere else.

It’s a fairly good opening episode and sets the tone well for the rest of the series.
