Synopsis

The original manga revolves around a girl named Yokoi who sits next to a boy only known as Seki-kun. During class, Seki-kun continues to not pay attention and instead creates amazing little distractions, such as a detailed golf course with the course’s hole being a dent in his desk, or an entire dramatic war being played out by paper shogi pieces. Yokoi often finds herself getting reluctantly interested in his games, even though they always seem to end up getting HER in trouble with the teacher!

Review

This is a short show about a boy and girl in a class playing games. The joke is that the boy plays the games and the girl gets in trouble for watching. It’s not particularly great but it’s a fun short show that I watched most often while eating lunch.

Also it was pointed out to me that this sucks if you watch any more than one episode a day.  Each episode is the exact same anyway so this show will suck for you if you’ve seen the first five minutes and you hated it. It got pretty bad towards the end because while each individual game is quite inspired and interesting as a stand alone it feels so formulaic that it’s hard to care about. They really do a lot of cool stuff with the games, I guess a lot of it is cool in the exact same way (making it less cool).

  1. I definitely don’t recommend binging this one. Every episode follows an identical format so one or two episodes at a time is about the limit. That said, each distraction is amazingly detailed an interesting in its own way. They did a lot with such a simple concept.
