Blind spot English lyrics

A kind of love that is commonly sang about in Chinese music is parental love. Unfortunately it doesn’t often get the same attention in the west and I think that’s a shame. Here is my translation of the song blind sport which has an overwhelming focus on the love parents have for their children.

Lyrics

I’m counting the sound of my footsteps
Aimlessly moving forward
Should I go home or wonder more?
I can’t make up my mind

I’ve obviously worked hard to advance
Relationships in life, work and society
But looking at the full calendar
Just makes my heart feel empty

No matter how far I look
There is always a blind spot
You were by my side
I just never noticed
Success is at hand
But it’s just a cloud of smoke
I hate myself for never turning to see
Love was in front of me

How much responsibility must one bear
To be considered mature?
How many scars do you need
To call your life wonderful?

No matter how far I look
There is always a blind spot
You were by my side
I just never noticed
Success is at hand
But it’s just a cloud of smoke
I hate myself for never turning to see
Love was in front of me

Forgot to hold an umbrella for you
Forgot to ask for your birthday wishes
How many bills have you paid that I didn’t know about?
How many meals have you made where I didn’t come home?
Oh there is always a blind spot
Oh I never noticed
Oh you were always by my side
I hate myself for never turning to see
Love was in front of me

Translation Notes

“世界我看得再远” actually means “No matter how far I look at the world” – this alone wouldn’t be worth the translation note but it might perhaps make the music video easier to understand.

“才算是成熟安份” was translated to “To be considered mature?” but the phrase “成熟安份” means mature and settled/content – this extra meaning on the end seemed too unnatural so I kept it as mature.

If there are any questions about the translation or the original lyrics in general please let me know!
