When I was shamelessly checking how well my blog ranked in google searches I came across a website ranker, and much to my surprise – I was one of those websites on that website.
So naturally, I was curious. This is what I found.
Yay! What an amazing and glowing review! Nothing on the actual quality, and everything about searchability. Not going to lie, my search rates are pretty low, and I only have like 5 posts that ever rank highly on google – but that’s pretty good in my opinion! And definitely better than I expected.
Also, this person’s criticising the description of my blog? Ok, a bit personal, but whatever. I love it anyway.
So what else does this website say about me?
What? I’m ranked in the top 3 million websites of all time! That’s amazing… but wait.. what’s those 5 little symbols over there? Is that half a star our of five? I don’t think I’ve even seen anything rated half a star, never mind my own blog!
Everything else isn’t really about me because they can’t find my stats specifically – that is except for site safety
I have good reputation, good privacy, and excellent child safety – this must obviously be because of the “we ban lolicon porn post” and “boobs vs butts – the most epic scene in prison school post”, or could it be my books where people die brutally and a boyfriend raped his girlfriend – yeah that might be it!
Honestly in general though I agree with my blog being child friendly mostly – my posts are inoffensive (unless I’m trying to cause controversy – which is pretty obvious to see when I do) and I almost never swear and just talk about fairly innocent subjects to be honest. There are outliers obviously, but on the whole most of my posts are definitely ok.
What I’m more interested in is how they even get this information – which brings me to the point that this website seems pretty unreliable.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea of the sight, and I would love it be accurate (because it would mean I’m in the top 3 million websites) but it seems like theirs some clear faults with it.
First of all on the twitter thread people pointed out that their website was ranked 55th in the world! It doesn’t even chart the visitors and views so how can it know?
It’s likely because these websites have not been checked yet and are just given the same ranking as wordpress.com
It’s funny to see another opinion of your blog, and this got a lot of response on twitter – so I thought it would be fun to post this and start a discussion away from twitter about how this page ranks people. I don’t know. It’s just fun to see where your website stands!
